Carity launches an innovative "blended care" solution in cardiac rehabilitation for World Heart Day

Carity is a medical device declared compliant in Switzerland that accompanies patients after a heart attack or other cardiac events during and after rehabilitation and provides long-term support in meeting their training goals. Just in time for World Heart Day, Carity is now available on the Swiss market as a "blended care" solution for rehab clinics and cardiology practices for their patients.

Although exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation plays a crucial role in preventing secondary cardiac events, only 68% of affected patients in Switzerland participate in a rehabilitation program. Up to 80% of patients fail to meet their training goals in the first year after completing rehabilitation. These figures underline the need for new, sustainable solutions.

This is where Carity comes in with its blended care solution. By combining individual care and digital support, Carity accompanies patients during rehabilitation and helps them to maintain their training goals in everyday life in the long term.

"Carity strengthens patients' confidence in their hearts, provides them with lasting motivation and supports them in actively and independently shaping their lives beyond the rehabilitation program," explains Frédéric Gabriel, CEO of Carity.

Carity creates precise adherence reports for medical professionals that provide a comprehensive overview of their patients' rehabilitation progress. This enables even more individualized treatment.

Carity has been successfully used and tested in various Swiss rehabilitation clinics and cardiac practices as part of application studies. A clinical study is also being conducted in collaboration with the University Hospital of Zurich, the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen and the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital. The insurance industry is also showing interest: From January 2025, CSS will include Carity's digital offering in its supplementary insurance. As a result, the myFlex outpatient insurance will pay an annual contribution towards the costs of the app.

Carity is a digital health start-up based in the canton of St. Gallen with a medical device declared compliant in Switzerland for patients in the rehabilitation phase following a cardiac event. Carity enables psychocardiological monitoring of patients through the interaction of wearables and an app. Carity's intervention aims to increase patients' motivation and commitment to physical activity in the long term, thereby reducing the risk of subsequent events.
