Largest tumor center in the region

The new Tumor and Breast Center Eastern Switzerland has been operating in the Neudorf Center in the east of Stadt St.Gallen since June. The merger of Brustzentrum Ostschweiz, ZeTuP and Praxis Vadiana has created the largest tumor center in the region and one of the largest private tumor centers in Switzerland that is run by doctors outside of a hospital as a public limited company.

Advice, support, diagnostics, therapy

According to Prof. Dr. med. Michael Knauer PhD, partner of the Brustzentrum Ostschweiz AG and attending physician at the Klinik Stephanshorn, St.Gallen, the new Tumor and Breast Center Eastern Switzerland is aimed at all patients with breast complaints and diseases - whether benign or malignant and all patients with malignant tumors who require medical-oncological care and therapy. The specialists are also available for second opinions and genetic counseling for familial risks.

In the breast area, the tumor center offers the entire spectrum of examinations and therapy: benign diseases and, of course, breast cancer - from diagnostics with imaging and tissue samples, all types of necessary operations and drug therapy, from early stages to palliative situations. Hirslanden's breast radiology department (with mammography and stereotaxy) will also be moving into the Neudorf Center from November, and the new radiotherapy department for radiotherapy of tumor patients will also be operating in the building.

For all other types of tumor, the group practice offers advice, second opinions and, above all, medical oncological therapy - the 12 oncologists have their own areas of specialization, which they treat in particular or, in some cases, exclusively. Genetic consultations for hereditary tumor diseases are also a focus.

In one place

Thanks to the merger, patients with breast cancer, for example, can have all outpatient examinations and treatments carried out in one place in one building. The personal doctor as contact person is the great strength of the center - without having to deal with different contact persons each time in a large anonymous outpatient clinic.

The Tumor and Breast Center Eastern Switzerland is already part of the certified Breast Center Stephanshorn, St. Gallen. In addition, further disease-related specializations are being sought in the areas of urogenital, gynaecological and gastrointestinal tumours as well as significant participation in future certifications of corresponding organ centers in collaboration with specialist colleagues and the Hirslanden Klinik Stephanshorn.
